Salut tout le monde!
Our trip is getting closer and closer, so I'm getting tres excited (excuse the lack of accent marks). Mr. Becerra put up this slide show to give you an idee of what to expect on our trip. We will see amazing art and architecture, get a glimpse of la vie outside
of our country, taste lots of great food, learn a lot, and create loads
of memories together. I love going to Europe and I'm thrilled to see
it again and again through our students' eyes.
As we get closer to our departure date we'll update this site with
useful information, and we hope students will contribute their thoughts
about the trip as well.
While we're away, parents, friends and loved ones will be able to
follow us on our journey through some of the greatest cities in the
world.
Mr. Becerra is really looking forward to experiencing the birthplace of the Renaissance.
I am too, and I also can't wait to have at least a pastry a day on our
journey. I've started working out so my clothes will have room for me
to grow when I get to Europe.
Work on your shopping and cafe French, and you'll want to learn un peu of Italian aussi. Things like please and thank you, and maybe the numbers 1 - 10: Tre gelati per favore!
Keep your valuables safe!
Here are a couple of interesting links about avoiding pickpockets while on vacation: http://www.magellans.com/store/article/424 and http://seniortravel.about.com/od/travelsafety/a/pickpockets.htm .
We'll talk more specifically when we get together before our trip about
things we want you to do to protect your valuables and important
documents, such as your passport.Check out this brief history of Paris, originally called Lutetia. It's short and interesting: http://goparis.about.com/od/historyculture/a/ParisHistory.htm
At the end of our fourth day in Paris we will board a train for an overnight trip to Italy. For
everyone who loves trains, and for those who have not yet traveled by
train, this should be a special treat. I've attached a link that has a
picture of the type of compartment we will be sleeping in. We will all
be in couchettes, which are seating compartments that change into
little rooms with six bunk beds each at night. Take a look at the
picture and read about it:-)
